In the words of the great Brian Blessed one of our finest & loudest actors....

"Whatever you want to do in life, just go for it!

Grab it by the scruff of the neck and shake the bugger till your there""

Being someone else is ok!!

Actors Quote:-

I never went to a drama school or anything. I just gave it my best shot, and everyone seemed to like it, so I carried on doing it.

Thomas Sangster

Listen, acting is not surgery, it's entertainment. You're doing something to hopefully move people, to make them laugh, to transport them. But actors are vulnerable, and the reason we're vulnerable is that we're always trying to recreate human behaviour.

“A lot of parents tell their children that if they want to be an actor, that's fine, but they should do something else first, so they've got something to fall back on. It doesn't work like that, as far as I'm concerned.”
― Ewan McGregor

“Acting is not about dressing up. Acting is about stripping bare. The whole essence of learning lines is to forget them so you can make them sound like you thought of them that instant.”
― Glenda Jackson

“We gotta be willing to let it hurt. You know, all this notion that acting is “yeah it’s pretend” and yes we enjoy it and yeah we can have a good time with it. But if you wanna LAND, you wanna make an impact, you want those FUCKERS TO REMEMBER YOU! Then you have to let it hurt sometimes. You gotta get there because that’s all an audience ever wants. Is for you to open up your chest and show them that you have a fucking heart. That’s all we want. A heart. A human being. Not an affectation.”
― Kevin Spacey

Acting and performance can be one of the best jobs in the world - but also one of the hardest, both to get into and to stay. Let's not have any of this tinsel town nonsense - for most it's getting up early - going to bed late and lot's of free unpaid time in-between.

But the rewards can be there, if you work hard, commit totally and obviously have the talent.

ah - now about talent - the fact is I believe actors are born to act and perform.

You spot them right away - they are keen , they are hungry - they have the moves and the instincts, even if under developed and unrecognised.

Many "act" their way through school building up a persona of confidence when inside they are far from confident.

So how to describe act4ward.

That's hard it's informal and basic because it's not out to sell you a dream - the idea is to prepare you for castings, for roles and for the industry if that is the intent.

for many it may encourage  them to go for a drama school training or weekend drama or the school drama class.

But really it's about confidence, and understanding and discovering yourself.

It's not just have your picture taken, or shooting a short video - it's about preparation, dealing with self doubts and pointing in the right direction. In the case of a dramatic actor it's separating your own persona from that of your character.

For younger ones, it's about enjoyment  of playing seriously and building a confidence and attitude which gets the casting and the opportunities going their way.

Let's play at this seriously!!

"As an Actor I'll play anything"

         Michael Caine

“The further you get away from yourself, the more challenging it is. Not to be in your comfort zone is great fun.”
― Benedict Cumberbatch

The aim with my work here is to get a new and aspiring actor to forget for a moment who they are and become that character.

To forget those self doubts and worries that they look or sound stupid - to be confident, but not arrogant - to understand acting is fun but work!
