Thoughts from the desk....November 9th 2016
During this week on the 11th hour on the 11th day we shall remember them.
All those people who died for their Countries in war .
Sadly is also the week when America looses the plot and elects Donald Trump as their new President - God what a depressing morning - and it's raining to.
Ok to things on a happier note -
Not been a very busy time shoot wise, as I have had to commit time to planning and development and also to The Halfling project.
It seems everyone [including me] is suffering colds and flu - which seem to be lasting forever.
However plans are going well, and hopefully I can extend the websites and resources shortly.
I also am working on more formal contractual procedures for taking part in time for work.
I think most people understand how it works - but one it seems didn't so best explain.
The Halfling Projects shoots were always explained as a way of me getting illustration images for the project - and will be used within the work. That's why it costs the participant nothing because I get something from it too - ie the use of resultant images. I already gave the option of not using images they wished not to be viewed when they first get them -, and I constantly review work that might be against the interests of actor's career development, and remove if I think there is a possible conflict.
For someone to ask or demand that all images of them from such a shoot to be removed is just not being reasonable except in extreme cases. Would they ask a film company to remove their early extra work - the BBC to scrap it's programme as they don't want to be seen in it?
The fact is when taking part in a time for agreement you know the terms - if you don't like them you either walk away or look to paying for exclusive rights.
Photographers also maintain image rights and copyright by default, and many sell images as stock images to agencies.
With The Halfling Project if I cannot use images from these time for shoots why ever would I do them?
In 10 years of time for work on my digital work - this is the first time I have had this.
Professional actors understand that I am not about to abuse their trust by using images against their interests, but accept the terms they were shot means they can be seen.
Many early shoots are off limits , not because of an actors request, but because I believe it is right to remove them.
Ofcourse shoots that were confidential remain exactly that .
So anyways with act4ward time for again lets be clear I plan to use some resulting images within the website and as illustration, and in return you may use the images also - time for = we both pay each other by use of the results.
